We’re far from the first people to start asking questions about Third Places. Check out the research in this folder to learn more.

Support your local Third Places.

Start considering where you spend your time and money. There’s some amazing places in Johnson County that embody some of the community-centered and inclusive aspects of Third Places. We listed three of these below, but there’s a lot more out there.

Sweet Tee’s Coffee Shop in Olathe, KS.

Locally opened shop that partners with nonprofits, schools, and other local businesses. Hosts community events, showcases local artists, and is a safe space to spend time with no purchase neccessary.

Central Resource Library, Overland Park, KS.

Johnson County Library with a community makerspace. Partners with local nonprofit agencies to provide resources for employment, education, housing, and transportation.

Kingcade, Overland Park, KS.

 Arcade located at the Oak Park Mall with vintage cabinets and modern game systems. Play all day for a $10 entry. Partners with Johnson County Mental Health.

Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, Overland Park, KS.

 Community center with a free art gallery and ping-pong tables. Exercise facilities accessible with entry fee.
